Isabel was born in Melbourne, Australia. The mother of Isabel is Swiss as is her father Australian. Her family lived in the Swiss, in Melbourne Jabiru (a small mining community in Northern Territory), Cairns Australia and in Jabiru, Switzerland. Isabel attended school alongside Nina and children from different cultures, including First Nations. Isabel is currently living in Byron Bay NSW Australia. Isabel was involved in acting since the time she attended school. She attended the Queensland Institute of Technology, the Victorian College of the Arts, and Perdekamp Method Perdekamp. She never auditioned for parts until being asked by her agent in 2002. She attempted to audition for the part in Home and Away in 1988. They felt that she was not right for the part but were sufficiently impressed to create a different role for her Tasha. The actress played her first television role for 3 years. In recognition of her performance she was awarded a Logie Award. Isabel relocated into Los Angeles, California in 2008. In 2009, her breakout performance was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Seit then, she has been in a variety of US and Australian productions. Isabel is a fervent advocate for animal rights and has collaborated with numerous environmental groups. Since 2010, she is the PatronAmbassador of Melbourne's Human Rights and Arts Film Festival.
